REGIONAL PASSENGER RAIL TRANSPORT

Our regional passenger railway transport division has become an essential part of RATH Group since the takeover of Rurtalbahn in 2002. Moreover, the division has shown the largest growth in recent years. Thanks to winning further tenders in Odenwald, Rheingau and Erft-Schwalm network between 2005 and 2015, we were able to expand SPNV network.

In the meantime, RATH Group operates a regional passenger rail transport network of Nordrhein-Westfalen over Rheinland-Pfalz and Hessen up to Baden-Württemberg. We have 68 units of LINT, RS1, ITINO and FLIRT type at our disposal in SPNV. We employ the total of 300 employees in regional passenger rail transport.

Rurtalbahn has been in RATH Group since 2002. It runs from Düren over the entire district of Düren along the Rur. With the total of 29 stops of which only 7 are located within the urban area of Düren, an exhaustive network of stops spans over the entire district. In the northern direction, Rurtalbahn operates the route section from Düren to Linnich. The southern area of the district is operated from Düren up to Heimbach. The route is operated by units of Lint and RS1 type.

At Düren train station, you can change to Deutsche Bahn lines in the direction of Aachen and Köln. You can make a timely change between the lines which connect with one another at Düren train station. Further, Rurtalbahn is linked to the regional bus lines of Düren circular routes according to time and location. Moreover, in Jülich area you can use the call accumulative taxi (AST) system. Further, Rurtal railway operates RB28 line of Börde railway from Düren up to Euskirchen on weekdays and public holidays.
